Change is a hard thing to deal with at times, don’t you think?
It is both external and internal.
External, of course, are things like moving to another place, or city, a new position at a job, etc.
Internal is more of the adaption to change. This deals with the emotional state of things like head trauma and stroke.
Adapting to change
All of the emotions that go with such a traumatic event in our lives is not easy and can seem devastating to us;
- Possibly losing a job and/or business
- The behavior changes with family and friends like being angry or depressed
- Being forgetful
- Feeling confused about where to go from here
Letting your emotions stress you out can be a devastating thing to you and your long-term health and relationships.
And let’s face it! You are not the only one having challenging times.
Respond vs React
Choosing to respond vs react is huge.

Being conscious of this is a key to changing and growing.
Awareness will help you grow and change faster. You will begin to enjoy your journey more and more.
You will notice having a good attitude toward others…and they will notice that too.
Your own values are the foundation that drives you, and your behavior determines what is most valueable to you.
Are you changing toward what is most important to you?
It takes discipline.
Most of us have thought that after a stroke or TBI we were going to get right back after it…whatever IT was.
Then, we find that it takes a lot more work and energy than we thought.
Let me ask you a question…Are you going to give up and/or quit because it may take longer? NO! You are going to keep on trucking as long as it takes.
I was telling someone the other day…life continues to move onward…we NEVER ACTUALLY GET THERE!
That is what is so awesome about our lives. We continue to improve and make the best of life no matter what we go through.
Be willing to learn and grow
As you think about this little article and about change, put yourself in the place of learning and growing.
I often think…Will I ever get there?
On the same token, do we ever really want to get there?
Life is about growth.
Life is about change.
Be a Warrior!
I’m not saying that you have to have it all put together in a month…but a Warrior has a never give up attitude.
My hope is that you find the ability to change and grow as you move forward in life!
Here is a quote I’d like for you to see today…
“Man is not fully conditioned and determined; he determines himself whether to give in to conditions or to stand up to them. In other words, man is ultimately self determining. Man does not simply exist, but always decides what his existence will be, what he will become in the next moment” – Victor Frankl
